Why Keep Growing? The Power of Reinvention in Retirement
Mar 12, 2025
“Why are you doing this? Are you bored?”
That was the question I was asked over lunch recently when discussing my master’s degree in entrepreneurship and launching my new online business. It made me pause—but only for a moment. My answer? I’m not bored. I’m just getting started.
Retirement Is a Beginning, Not an End
When I retired in 2023, I didn’t see it as an endpoint. I saw it as an opportunity. At 63, I have decades ahead to build, learn, and make an impact. The idea that retirement means stepping away from growth doesn’t sit well with me. And I know I’m not alone.
Why Keep Learning and Building?
- Pursuing Passion: Entrepreneurship has always excited me. Why stop now?
- Staying Engaged: Learning keeps my mind sharp and gives me a sense of purpose.
- Creating New Opportunities: Whether it’s starting a business, mentoring, or exploring new ventures, staying active opens doors I never imagined.
- Leaving a Legacy: I want to help others transition into fulfilling second acts, showing that retirement isn’t about retreat—it’s about reinvention.
The Retirepreneur Mindset
The world is changing fast, and staying relevant means staying curious. That’s what Retirepreneur is all about—helping others turn experience into opportunity, whether through business, consulting, or meaningful work.
Retirement isn’t about stepping back. It’s about stepping up. The question isn’t why are you doing this? It’s why wouldn’t I?
What’s your next move?
